Writing Group

"Writing group rocks!" stated first year student Mindy Hood, a writing major. Why does it rock? Well, Evniki Hesse, a first year art student, said "Writing group offers a productive environment in which I can speak my thoughts out loud, thus allowing my writing to flow, which is a key concept to writing." During a writing group meeting, students write for 30-45 minutes, then have a discussion over what they write. Students write about whatever they want, whether it is fantasy, sci-fi, or non-fiction. While sharing your works is encouraged, it is not required, and you are not pressured into sharing if you don't want to. But it is a safe place to get critique on what you write, because, as Brittany Sinnema-Jackson says "Everyone understands how you feel about your work." This group is open to everyone, not just writing majors. Please note that writing group is not a part of the writing center, which is a place to take your papers is you need peer-revision.
Writing group is led by Brittany Sinnema-Jackson and meets Sundays at 7:00pm in the conference room on the 3rd floor of Centennial.
